David and Rachael Marks, our Honorees for 2012, are models of good hearted deeds for the heritage of Jewish culture and identity.
The Marks joined MJP as a family in 2003 with their eldest daughter Teah, and she created the path for her siblings, Eve and Solomon.
David and Rachael are a very special couple. For Rachael, the words “volunteer” and “no” rarely appear in the same sentence, and David is a visionary who supports and collaborates with Rachael’s initiatives.
As such, it was clear to both of them that they see themselves as active collaborators. Rachael never limited her role at MJP to parenting, and she is the one who brought the idea of having a parent committee, that would strengthen the school. The seeds that Rachael planted have now flourished to be the MJP Parents’ Partnership Group and Rachael serves as the President of the Board of MJP.
Needless to say, David’s contribution equals his wife’s commitment as he serves as the treasurer of our MJP Board. As an expression of their support, Rachael and David are responsible for providing the initial seed capital to begin the new Mequon Jewish Preschool Endowment Fund.
Every school would love to be with blessed a family like the Marks. Their ability to create a shared vision for the school, connects teachers, children and parents and brings the best out of each and every participant.
In addition to their commitment to MJP, Rachael and David have volunteered for many organizations in the extended community. These include: BBYO, NCJW, Milwaukee Jewish Federation, Maccabi games, and Infinite Gymnastics Booster Club. Their contributions have impacted each of these places in meaningful ways.
The following phrase from Ecclesiastes (2:26) describes Rachael and David since they have good and giving in the deepest places of their hearts.
“For to the man that is good in His sight, He gives wisdom, and knowledge, and joy.”
May Rachael and David and their family always be blessed with wisdom, knowledge and joy.
